6. Neurodermatitis

Neurodermatitis also known as lichen simplex chronicus, causes patches of itchy skin that lead to scratching. Scratching in turn, intensifies the itching. Patches may also develop around the vagina. These patches are leathery, scaly, raised, rough, red, or darker than the rest of the skin. The condition may occur due to a bug bite or tight clothes that trigger the itching. However, the condition is not contagious.

7. Lichen Sclerosus 

Lichen sclerosus is a skin condition where patches of skin become white and get thinner. While the condition may occur anywhere on the body, it is most common near the genital area for women. Lichen sclerosus can cause itching and pain. There is no known cause for the disease but is most common among postmenopausal women. 

8. Sexually transmitted Diseases (STDs) 

STDs such as syphilis and genital herpes can cause a rash near the vagina. They can also lead to sores or blisters around the vagina that may or may not be painful.
